Ben’s work has been described as unique, clean and powerful. Ben is a worldwide photographer based in Israel and available for work all over the globe. His work has been published in Vogue Italy, Kaltblut Germany, Boro Poland, and many more. He won 3rd place in the international photography awards at the “WBF 2013″.
In 2009 Ben started studying photography through the “Minshar Academy of Art” in Tel Aviv. Following this he did a masters in Fashion Photography with Ron Kedmi.
Ben has been playing with photography since early 2007. He says he has always been inspired by music and feeling and he feels that shooting fashion is very dependant on moods and atmosphere. He says he feels very sensitive to the feeling of those around him and he pulls inspiration from that.
Ben describes his style as clean and elegant. He works hard to pay attention to every part of shooting and he is happy if he creates a clear shot that is both beautiful and artistic. Before he shoots he likes to meet the team and see the designs and clothing involved. He likes to get a feel for the makeup and the location as well. “I build the story with the artistic team I am working with” says Ben.
Ben mainly shoots using a Canon 5D MarkII and MarkIII as well as a 7D. He is a big fan of natural light but always enjoys working with LED lights in the studio. His aim with photos is to get the perfect shot in-camera, and only use Photoshop to enhance and touch up small things.
He is an Apple fan and always carries his Macbook Pro with him for work and editing.
Ben says he became inspired to shoot fashion when he saw an exhibit by David Lachapel. He also follows and draws inspiration from Erwin Olaf and Jeremy Kost.
Ben’s advice for young photography enthusiasts is simply to shoot as often as possible and figure out what you are comfortable shooting. As you shoot more you will arrive in a comfort zone and from there the sky is the limit. He says to be successful you have to give a lot of yourself and take risks. You want to keep your name out there and keep your portfolio fresh. Pay attention to fashion shows, fashion editorials, new styles and emerging techniques. Anytime you can enter yourself into a photography contest, do it. It allows you to see what others are doing as well.
